## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHEN TAXIING TO THE RUNWAY, THE PILOT OBSERVED TWO OTHER AIRCRAFT IN THE RUNNUP AREA. WHEN THEY LEFT, HE BEGAN SCANNING HIS GAUGES FOR HIS TAKEOFF CHECK, MEANWILE A CESSNA 152 TAXIIED AROUND A CORNER IN FRONT OF HIM AND BEGAN THEIR RUNNUP. THE PILOT OF 23UT FAILED TO SEE THE CE-152 DUE TO THE CONVENTIONAL GEAR CONFIGURATION OF HIS STARDUSTER BIPLANE. THE PILOTS BROTHER-IN-LAW/PASSENGER STARTED WAVING HIS HANDS TO HAVE THEIR AIRCRAFT STOPPED. THE PILOT STOPPED THEIR AIRPLANE, BUT NOT UNTIL THEIR PROPELLER HAD STRUCK THE RIGHT WING TIP OF THE CE-152 CAUSING DAMAGE TO ABOUT TWO RIBS AND THE END OF THE WING SPAR. NO INJURIES IN EITHER AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR11LA477](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR11LA477), Sep 24, 2011: Starduster II SA-300 (N23UT), West Jordan, UT, minor damage. Probable cause: The pilot of the other airplane's inadequate visual lookout, which resulted in a collision with the standing airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
