## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PRIOR TO BOARDING THE AIRCRAFT, THE PILOTS DECIDED WHO WOULD BE PILOT-IN- COMMAND.THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND TOOK THE REAR SEAT AND THE THE OTHER PILOT TOOK THE FRONT SEAT. THEY HAD AGREED THE PILOT IN THE FRONT SEAT WOULD DO THE FIRST TAKE OFF.ON TAKE OFF, THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A STEEP CLIMB WHEN IT STALLED AROUND 100 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL. THE RIGHT WING DROPPED AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA12CA015](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA12CA015), Oct 7, 2011: Piper PA-18-150 (N3491Z), Elizabethton, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the pilot to maintain airspeed during the initial climb after takeoff, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

## Other reports on N3491Z (1)

- [Incident 19880621040329I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19880621040329I), Jun 21, 1988: Piper PA18150 (N3491Z), Wiscasset, ME, Minor damage. Lost control and ground looped the aircraft during practice touch and go.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
