## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

IP ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS CONDUCTING MULTIENGINE FLIGHT INSTRUCTION IN A BEECHCRAFT DUTCHESS (BE-76) AIRCRAFT. DURING A TAKE-OFF MANEUVER THE STUDENT REACHED DOWN AND BROUGHT THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE TO THE "UP" POSITION BEFORE THE IP COULD STOP HIM RESULTING IN THE GEAR RETRACTING. THE IP MANAGED TO KEEP THE MAIN LANDING GEAR FROM RETRACTING BY IMMEDIATELY RETURNING THE GEAR HANDLE TO THE DOWN POSITION AND REDUCING POWER. THE NOSE GEAR HOWEVER HAD ALREADY BEGAN TO RETRACT RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT STRIKING THE RUNWAY ON ITS NOSE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
