## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CALM CLEAR DAY. INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT FLYING HUGHES 269 ON A CHECKOUT FLIGHT. BOTH INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT STATED THAT THEY WERE DOING AUTO ROTATIONS FROM A HOVER AND AFTER THE FOURTH OR FIFTH ONE WERE DISCUSSING THE PREVIOUS MANEUVER WHEN THEY EXPERIENCED GROUND RESONANCE. THEY BOTH STATED THAT THEY HAD TOO LITTLE RPM TO GET THE HELICOPTER BACK OFF THE GROUND. PICTURES OF THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT SUPPORT A HARD LANDING, WITH SKIDS ON BOTH SIDES FLATTENED OUT, ROTOR BLADES ARE STRAIGHT AND DO NOT APPEAR TO HAVE STRUCK THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12CA031](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12CA031), Oct 14, 2011: Hughes 269A (N10375), Fort Worth, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The inadvertent entry into ground resonance after a hovering autorotation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
