## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS HEADING EAST AT ABOUT 800 FT WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CABIN BEGAN TO FILL WITH FUMES AND SMOKE. AT THAT POINT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD NOTICED THAT HE HAD NO OIL PRESSURE AND PULLED THE ENGINE BACK TO IDLE, WHILE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO LAND. HE THEN FOUND A FIELD AND TURNED THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE WIND TO SET UP FOR LANDING, WITH THE ENGINE STILL IDLING. HE LANDED LONG IN THE FIELD, TOUCHED DOWN FAST, HIT A SMALL DITCH AND BOUNCED BACK UP IN THE AIR AGAIN AND CAME DOWN HARD ON THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO ROLL OUT RUNNING INTO A BARB WIRE FENCE WHICH STOPPED THE AIRCRAFT AND FLIPPED IT OVER.THIS AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FROM BOTH THE HARD LANDING A COLLISION WITH A BARB WIRE FENCE DURING ROLL OUT.
