## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS AT FLIGHT CRUISE LEVEL 300. THE SEATBELT SIGN WAS ILLUMINATED AND PASSENGERS WERE SEATED WITH SEATBELTS FASTENED. FLIGHT ATTENDANTS HAD BEEN ADVISED BY THE FLIGHT CREW OF TURBULENCE IN THE AREA AND INSTRUCTED TO REMAIN NEAR THEIR JUMPSEATS. THE FLIGHT SUBSEQUENTLY ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURBULENCE ESTIMATED TO HAVE LASTED 30 SECONDS. ONE OF THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS WAS IN THE LAVATORY WHEN THE TURBULENCE OCCURRED AND REPORTED A POSSIBLE SPRAINED ANKLE. THERE WERE NO OTHER REPORTED INJURIES TO PASSENGERS OR CREWMEMBERS. AFTER THE FLIGHT, MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS OF THE INJURED FLIGHT ATTENDANT'S ANKLE REVEALED AN ACUTE FRACTURE OF THE RIGHT FIBULA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12LA057](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12LA057), Dec 1, 2011: Boeing 757-222 (N547UA), Modesto, CA, no damage. Probable cause: The flight's encounter with known severe turbulence associated with mountain wave activity, which resulted in a flight attendant sustaining a broken ankle.

## Other reports on N547UA (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19950426025649I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19950426025649I), Apr 26, 1995: Boeing 757222 (N547UA), Chicago, IL, Minor damage. Fire in NR2 engine on climbout. Returned.cross threaded fuel line b nut leaked. Fire damaged cowling scortched skin.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
