## Narrative

THE PILOTS THEN PERFORMED A TOWER FLY BY WITH LZU TOWER AND THE TOWER TOLD THEM IT APPEAED TO BE DOWN. THE PILOTS PERFORMED A NORMAL LANDING AND AFTER ABOUT 600 FEET THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO VEER OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE RIGHT WING IMPACTED A RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT AND THE RIGHT WING AND RIGHT AILERON WERE DAMAGED. NO INJURIES TO CREW. SPEED WAS ESTIMATED TO BE 15 KNOTS AT TIME OF GEAR COLLAPSE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA12LA117](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA12LA117), Dec 19, 2011: Piper PA-44-180 (N790GK), Lawrenceville, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The mechanic's improper installation and lubrication of the bushing on the right main landing gear truss assembly, which resulted in the landing gear not locking in the down position.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
