## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE TO FAT AT PROXIMATELY 2500 FT AGL, PIC NOTED THE ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH. THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT WITH ISSUE BY LEAN THE FUEL MIXTURE, APPLYING CARBURETOR HEAT AND SWITCHING MAGNETOS, BUT THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PIC CONTACTED THE FAT AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER AND REQUESTED PRIORITY LANDING. THE PIC MADE A SUCCESSFUL LANDING AND UPON EXITING THE RUNWAY, AS THE PIC ADVANCED THE THROTTLE HE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND IMMEDIATELY SECURED THE ENGINE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS NOTED THE #3 CYLINDER, ALONG WITH THE PISTON , HAD SEPARATED FROM THE ENGINE CASE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
