## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP SOUTH OF KNOXVILLE, TN, FOR SKY RANCH, A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP ABOUT 3 MILES AWAY TO THE SOUTHWEST. DURING THE CLIMB OUT, AT AN ALTITUDE OF 400-600 FT, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE PILOT NAVIGATED THE AIRCRAFT TO AN OPEN FIELD FOR A LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING CONTACTED A TREE, SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT AND COMING TO REST ON A HEDGEROW IN A 69 DEGREE, NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE, 50 YARDS FROM THE POINT OF CONTACT WITH THE TREE. THE PILOT SUFFERED NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
