## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 21, 2012 AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 LOCAL TIME, N47864, A PA-34, APPROACHED THE FORT STOCKTON AIRPORT (FST) AND ATTEMPTED TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR. THE LANDING GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO AN EMERGENCY EXTENTION WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE PILOT OPTED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT GEAR UP AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF EXTENDING THE GEAR NORMALLY AND EMERGENCY EXTEND. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED GEAR UP CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLERS AND MINOR SKIN DAMAGE ON THE AIRPLANE UNDERSIDE. THE AIRCRAFT HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED. THE EMERGENCY EXTEND WAS ACTIVATED WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS LIFTED AND THE GEAR EXTENDED AT THAT TIME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
