## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN NORMALLY AND WAS LINED UP WITH THE CENTER LINE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT PUT THE ENGINE IN REVERSE TO SLOW THE AIRCRAFT DOWN, THE ADDITIONAL TORQUE CAUSED THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER TO THE RIGHT APPROXIMATELY FIVE DEGREES. THE PILOT THEN ADDED LEFT RUDDER AND BRAKE. BECAUSE THE RUNWAY WAS ICE COVERED THIS ACTION DID NOT WORK. THE PILOT APPLIED POWER BUT TOO LITTLE TOO LATE. THE PILOT PUT THE ENGINE BACK INTO REVERSE WHEN THE RIGHT GEAR HIT A CHUNK OF ICE CAUSING THE RIGHT GEAR TO FAIL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN VEERED NINETY DEGREES TO THE RIGHT FOLLOWED BY THE PROPELLER CONTACTING THE SNOW BANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12CA112](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12CA112), Feb 14, 2012: Rockwell International S-2R (N8433V), Yellow Pine, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot did not maintain directional control while landing on a snow-contaminated runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
