## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 29 A WIND GUST CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO "BALLOON". PILOT ELECTED TO GO AROUND. APPLIED FULL POWER AND CLEANED UP AIRCRAFT, AT ABOUT 80-90 FEET AGL THE PILOT STATED "THE ENGINE RPM WENT TO IDLE OR QUIT." PILOT CHECKED FUEL SELECTOR FOR ON, CHECKED FUEL BOOST PUMP ON, AND PUMPED THROTTLE 2 - 3 TIMES, NO HELP, PILOT ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A SMALL FIELD JUST AHEAD AND OFF TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY. DURING THE HARD LANDING, THE LEFT WING TIP STRUCK THE GROUND, THE NOSE GEAR SUPPORT TUBE BENT REARWARD, AND THE WOODEN PROPELLER WAS DESTROYED, THERE WAS NO FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
