## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED KEXX (DAVIDSON COUNTY AIRPORT) AT APPROXIMATELY 1315 WITH 1 PILOT AND 1 PASSENGER. AIRCRAFT IMPACTED LAKE HIGH ROCK AT APPROXIMATELY 1340, ACCORDING TO NUMEROUS WITNESSES, FATALLY INJURING THE PILOT AND PASSENGER. PILOT WAS NOT INSTRUMENT RATED, WEATHER WAS FOG WITH RAIN/DRIZZLE AND HE STATED TO FUELER JUST PRIOR TO DEPARTURE THAT HE WAS AWARE OF WEATHER AND WOULD REMAIN BELOW 1800 FT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA12FA205](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA12FA205), Mar 2, 2012: Cessna LC42-550FG (N167ZP), Salisburry, NC, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The non-instrument-rated pilot's decision to continue flight into instrument meteorological conditions, which resulted in spatial disorientation and a loss of control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
