## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON THE THIRD ATTEMPT AT LANDING, THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE SOUTH END OF RUNWAY 18 WHILE STILL ON THE GROUND. THE PILOT INITIATED A GO AROUND UPON REALIZING THE AIRCRAFT WAS NO LONGER ON THE RUNWAY. SHORTLY AFTER PULLING BACK AND ADDING POWER, THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND CAME DOWN IN A PLOWED BEAN FIELD AND CONTINUED TO TRAVEL IN A FORWARD (SOUTHERLY) DIRECTION. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE BANK OF A CREEK APPROXIMATELY 150 YARDS OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 18. THE AICRAFT WAS DESTROYED UPON IMPACT. BOTH THE PILOT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA198](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA198), Mar 24, 2012: Mooney M20J (N201QB), Bloomfield, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to land with sufficient runway remaining to stop, which resulted in an unsuccessful aborted landing, inadvertent stall, and collision with terrain.

## Other reports on N201QB (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19911204054659A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19911204054659A), Dec 4, 1991: Mooney M20J (N201QB), Morris, MN, Substantial damage. Struck a snowbank on landing approach. Dark night in a snowshower, misjudged approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
