## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 10 AT KBVI, THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR BUMPED THE POWER LEVER UP BECAUSE THE STUDENT PILOT HAD LET THE AIRCRAFT GET TOO LOW. THE ENGINE THEN QUIT. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE TO MAKE THE AIRPORT. AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING WAS ATTEMPTED ALONG A ROAD RUNNING APPROXIMATELY PERPENDICULAR TO THE APPROACH RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT'S NOSE AND RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR CONTACTED SUPPORT CABLES FOR TELEPHONE / POWER POLES. THE AIRCRAFT THEN LANDED ON A ROAD NEAR THE PARKING AREA FOR A RESIDENCE. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE CONSISTED OF: NOSE GEAR SHEARED OFF AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR LEG CUT ¾ THROUGH BY CABLES, LEFT WING TIP, AFT FUSELAGE AND TAIL ASSEMBLY BROKEN OFF 4FT AFT OF CABIN AREA; WINDSHIELD CENTER BROKEN OUT, AND NUMEROUS STRUCTURAL FAILURES IN THE BOX CHANNEL FOR THE WING SPARS AND ON THE CABIN FLOOR STRUCTURE. CONTINUITY OF THE AIRCRAFT AND ENGINE WAS CONFIRMED.
