## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD BEEN FLYING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT. AFTER DOING SEVERAL TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT A NEARBY AIRPORT, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS IN CRUISE FLIGHT WHEN HIS ENGINE STOPPED OPERATING. HE TRIED TO RESTART THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO SUCCESS AND LANDED IN A FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED A BARB WIRE FENCE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE RIGHT FUEL TANK HAD A CUP OF FUEL REMAINING, WHILE THE LEFT TANK HAD 20 GALLONS PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 7 GALLONS IN THE LEFT WING TIP TANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12LA146](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12LA146), Mar 24, 2012: Jacobs RV-6A (N238RV), Bow, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of the pilot’s mismanagement of the fuel supply.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
