## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT LANDED ON SNOW COVERED RUNWAY. SNOW WAS WET WITH A FROZEN TOP CRUST AND A DEPTH BETWEEN EIGHT (8) TO TEN (10) INCHES AT IMPACT POINT. THE AIRCRAFT ROLL OUT WAS APPROX. 600 FT. AT WHICH POINT THE MAIN WHEELS SUNK INTO THE SNOW ENOUGH TO ARREST THE AIRCRAFT AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED TAIL OVER NOSE AND CAME TO A REST ON ITS BACK. THE ROLLOUT SHOWED EVIDENCE THAT THE LANDING WAS A MAIN GEAR ONLY WITH NO EVIDENCE OF THE TAIL WHEEL TOUCHING DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12CA148](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12CA148), Mar 25, 2012: Stinson 108-1 (N97032), Coolin, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to land on a snow-covered runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
