## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 28, 2012, AT 1011 EDT, SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES FLIGHT SCX 265, A BOEING 737-700 N711SY, WAS INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT AT RONALD REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT, VA. (DCA). ON TAXIING IN TO GATE 1, SCX 265 PASSED IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO AN AIRPORT FIRE TRUCK THAT WAS ENGAGED IN TRAINING DRILLS IN FRONT OF HANGAR 2. AFTER THE FIRE TRUCK RETURNED TO THE FIRE HOUSE, FIRE FIGHTERS DISCOVERED DAMAGE TO A HAND RAIL ON TOP OF THE TRUCK. THE FIRE CHIEF NOTIFIED SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES GATE AGENTS THAT THEY HAD REASON TO BELIEVE THAT CONTACT HAD BEEN MADE WITH THEIR AIRCRAFT. SUN COUNTRY OPERATIONS ORDERED THE AIRCRAFT TO RETURN TO THE GATE. INSPECTION REVEALED THAT CONTACT HAD BEEN MADE AND DISCOVERED TWO SCRATCHES IN THE METAL OF THE LEADING EDGE OF THE WING. THE SCRATCHES WERE: ONE FOUR AND ONE HALF INCHES AND ONE PARALLEL EIGHT INCHES, BOTH WERE A DEPTH OF 0.0225 INCHES. SUN COUNTRY CONDUCTED REQUIRED INSPECTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SRM 57-42-01-1A-1, BUFFED THE SCRATCHES AND RETURNED THE AIRCRAFT TO SERVICE.

THIS CASE IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
