## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS LANDING A CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRCRAFT TO THE SOUTH ON A TURF RUNWAY (12 INCH TALL GRASS) AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPED AND CONTINUED IN A SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION, GOING THROUGH A WIRE FENCE WEST OF THE RUNWAY, APPROXIMATELY 1500 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AGAINST A WOOD PRIVACY FENCE APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET WEST OF THE WIRE FENCE. A PROMINENT GROUND SCAR WHERE THE LEFT LANDING GEAR SCRAPED THE TURF WAS EVIDENT ALONG THIS PATH. THE WIND AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED AS VARIABLE AT THREE KNOTS. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT LANDING GEAR, LEFT WING, AILERON, EMPENNAGE AND PROPELLER. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12CA219](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12CA219), Mar 31, 2012: Taylorcraft F19 (N3673T), Emporia, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control while landing, which resulted in a ground loop and impact with a fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
