## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 17, 2012 AT APPROXIMATELY 16:00 CDT, N912RV, A PULSAR XP, WAS BEING OPERATED BY THE OWNER ON A PRIVATE FLIGHT. THE PILOT REPORTED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER DURING CLIMB OUT FROM DUCOTE AIR PARK (TS65). THE ENGINE DECREASE IN POWER BEGAN 50 FEET ABOVE RUNWAY 170. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO FLY A SHORT RIGHT PATTERN TO LAND ON RUNWAY 350, BUT LOST ALL POWER APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREES INTO THE TURN. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LEVEL THE WINGS AND MADE A HARD OFF AIRPORT LANDING INTO A WHEAT FIELD WEST OF THE AIRPORT. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH MINOR INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12FA249](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12FA249), Apr 17, 2012: Heiser Robert C JR Pulsar XP (N912RV), San Angelo, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of a blocked fuel vent line.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
