## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING AND WHILE HOLDING NOSE WHEEL UP, GUST OF WIND PUT AIRCRAFT INTO AN IMMEDIATE/UNEXPECTED NOSE DOWN ATTITUED DRIVING NOSE WHEEL OF AIRCRAFT INTO RUNWAY. ONCE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED RUNWAY, IT THEN SKIDDED TO ITS LEFT CAUSING AIRCRAFT TO LEAN TO ITS LEFT, ALMOST UNTIL AIRCRAFT CAME TO A FULLSTOP, WHEN BOTH LEFT WING AND ENGINE PROPELLOR CONTACTED RUNWAY. UPON IMPACT, FABRIC WING EXPLODED DUE TO SUSTAINING HIGH LOAD STRESSES. ALSO, ENGINE PROPELLOR SUSTAINED DAMAGE UPON IMPACT CAUSING SUDDEN ENGINE STOPPAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12CA168](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12CA168), Apr 17, 2012: Apollo Monsoon (N125AP), Oro Valley, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to lower the nose landing gear in time to prevent it from slamming onto the runway and collapsing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
