## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ON A FLIGHT FROM PORTERVILLE AIRPORT (KPTV) TO CHINO AIRPORT (KCNO). THE FUEL TANKS HAD BEEN FILLED PRIOR TO DEPARTURE FROM PORTERVILLE. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT HE MADE HIS TAKEOFF WITH THE FUEL SELECTOR IN THE BOTH POSITION. AFTER REACHING 1,000' HE MOVED THE FUEL SELECTOR TO THE RIGHT TANK. AFTER ONE HOUR OF FLIGHT HE THEN SELECTED THE BOTH POSITION ON THE FUEL SELECTOR. AFTER 15 MINUTES OF FLIGHT ON THE BOTH POSITION ON THE FUEL SELECTOR, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THE PILOT WAS DESCENDING FOR KCNO BUT WAS ABLE TO DIVERT TO BRACKETT AIRPORT (KPOC). THE PILOT MADE A POWER OFF LANDING IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY FAIR GROUNDS (FAIRPLEX). THE AIRCRAFT HIT A SMALL TREE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LEFT LANDING GEAR STRUT FAIRING AND TO THE LEADING EDGE OF THE LEFT WING. THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
