## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

MAY 2, 2012 THE PILOT ARRIVED AT SNA FOR A ROUTINE VFR FLIGHT. HE PERFORMED A FULL ROUTINE PREFLIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT ACCORDING TO THE CHECKLIST AND DID NOT FIND ANY ANOMALIES. AFTER CLIMBING INTO THE LEFT SEAT HE PUT HIS TOES ON THE TOE BRAKES AS USUAL AND PULLED OUT THE HANDBRAKE AFTER PUMPING THE TOE BRAKES. HE SAID NOTHING SEEMED UNUSUAL. HE FOLLOWED THE CHECKLIST START SEQUENCE AND STARTED THE LEFT ENGINE FIRST. ONCE THE ENGINE STARTED HE PULLED THE RPM BACK TO 800-900. HE THEN STARTED THE RIGHT ENGINE. AS THE ENGINE STARTED HE PUSHED THE MIXTURE UP TO FULL RICH. AT THIS STAGE THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD. HE SAID HE HAD BOTH FEET ON THE TOE BRAKES AND THE HANDBRAKE PULLED OUT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THE HE PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS HE COULD BUT THE AIRCRAFT KEPT MOVING. HE SAID HE TRIED TO TURN RIGHT BUT HAD VERY LITTLE STEERING ABILITY GIVEN THE CLOSE QUARTERS BEFORE THE COLLISION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
