## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT AND INSTRUCTOR DEPARTED THE COEUR D'ALENE AIRPORT (KCOE) AND FLEW TO HAYDEN LAKE, IDAHO TO PRACTICE GLASSY WATER LANDINGS. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED AND LANDED INVERTED IN THE WATER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE LANDING GEAR WAS FOUND IN THE DOWN/EXTENDED POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12CA234](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12CA234), May 3, 2012: Murphy Rebel (N1076D), Hayden Lake, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilots’ failure to position the landing gear for landing on the water, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
