## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMEN RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT BECAUSE THE THERMAL ACTIVITY WAS DECREASING. DURING THE ARRIVAL, HE APPLIED PARTIAL SPOILER TO ADJUST HIS APPROACH FOR LANDING. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS 300-400 AGL AND APPROXIMATELY 1500 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY, HE STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED SOME TURBULENCE AND THEN HE EXPERIENCED WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS A STRONG DOWNDRAFT. THE COCKPIT WARNING INDICATED SINKING AIR. HE MAINTAINED WINGS LEVEL. THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED INTO A CORNFIELD ON A WEST HEADING AND CAME TO REST FACING TO THE NORTHEAST. THE PILOT HAD NO INJURIES.

Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
