## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED ENGINE PROBLEMS. ENGINE BECAME IDLE AND WHEN LANDING AIRCRAFT ROLLED OVER IN RICE FIELD SUSTAINING DAMAGE TO ITS VERTICAL FIN. THERE WAS NO PASSENGERS ON BOARD AND THE PILOT WAS REPORTED AS UNHURT. INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER IN BOTH WING TANKS, WATER IN THE FUEL STRAINER BOWL AND IN THE CARBURETOR BOWL. THE OWNER FUEL SUPPLY WAS CHECKED AND WAS FOUND TO BE CONTAMINATED WITH WATER AND RUST. FUEL TANK CAPS HAD BAD GASKETS AND VENTED CAP LOCATED ON WRONG TANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA388](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA388), Jun 23, 2012: Cessna A150K (N8380M), Mamou, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight inspection, which resulted in a partial loss of engine power due to fuel contamination.

## Other reports on N8380M (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910601032309I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910601032309I), Jun 1, 1991: Cessna A150K (N8380M), Lemont, IL. Fuel exhaustion on a pleasure flight. Forced landing in a farm field.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
