## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 24, 2012, N555TY, A CESSNA 340 WAS BEING OPERATED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ON A VFR FLIGHT FROM KMDH TO KCXO WHEN THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER IN THE LEFT ENGINE. THE PILOT REQUESTED TO BE DIVERTED TO LITTLE ROCK (KLIT) AND DECLINED TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. THE PILOT SAW OIL SMOKE, FROM THE FAILED ENGINE AND DECLARED HE HAD A FIRE, WHEN HE DID NOT HAVE A FIRE. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT, THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRFRAME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
