## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN DEPARTED BIRCHWOOD AIRPORT EN-ROUTE TO LAKE HOOD STRIP (Z41). HE STATED THAT HE ENCOUNTERED A HEAVY RAIN SQUALL AS HE WAS ENTERING THE DOWNWIND LEG FOR RUNWAY 13 AT Z41. THE RAIN SQUALL MADE THE RUNWAY DIFFICULT TO SEE AND BECAUSE OF THAT HE TURNED FINAL APPROACH TOO HIGH, AND SUBSEQUENTLY LANDED HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY AND SLID OFF THE END. RAIN WAS REPORTED IN THE AREA. AIRMAN WAS COUNSELED ABOUT USING GO AROUND PRECEDURES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
