## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC OVERFLEW A GRAVEL BAR ON THE TALCHULITNA RIVER WITH THE INTENT ON LANDING TO FISH. THE BAR LOOKED GOOD AND HE LANDED. ON HIS ROLL OUT HE VENTURED TOO FAR TO THE GRASSY SIDE OF THE BAR WHEN THE LEFT GEAR DROPPED INTO A HOLE HIDDEN IN THE GRASS CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO GROUND LOOP TO THE LEFT, HITTING A STUMP AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE LEFT GEAR AND LEFT WING TIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC12CA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC12CA069), Jul 6, 2012: Piper PA-18-150 (N623JE), Skwentna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable off-airport landing site, which resulted in a loss of control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
