## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AS STATED BY THE PILOT, DURING AERIAL APPLICATION WHILE TRAVELING NORTH THE AIRCRAFT MOMENTARILY TORQUED LEFT AND A WARNING LIGHT QUICKLY FLASHED. A CHECK OF THE GAUGES WAS PERFORMED AND ALL APPEARED TO BE NORMAL, INCLUDING FUEL QUANITY WHICH WAS JUST BELOW THE QUARTER TANK MARK.SPRAYING WAS CONTINUED FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING. AS A RESULT THE PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ONTO A SOYBEAN FIELD. FUEL SAMPLES TAKEN FROM EACH TANK AND FUEL FILTER APPEARED NORMAL. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE FUEL IN THE LEFT TANK, AND ONLY VISIBLE BELOW THE BOTTOM BAFFLE IN THE RIGHT TANK. FUEL WAS DRAINED BY THE DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE FOR CUSTOM AIR, LLC AND REVEALED THE COMBINED TOTAL FROM BOTH FUEL TANKS WAS APPROXIMATELY 1.75 GALLONS. TOTAL FUEL CAPACITY IS 61 GALLONS WITH 57 USABLE AND 4 GALLONS UNUSABLE. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE FUEL LEAKING FROM EITHER TANK, OR EVIDENCE OF FUEL ON THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12CA435](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12CA435), Jul 9, 2012: Bell 47G-3B-2 (N2919W), Treynor, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper fuel management, which resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.
