## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ENROUTE TO ACK, DESCENDING THROUGH 7,000 FEET, THE TOP COWL DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AND STRUCK THE LEFT WINDSCREEN CAUSING A LARGE HOLE IN THE PLEXIGLASS. THE CFI AT THE CONTROLS OCCUPYING THE RIGHT SEAT CONTACTED CAPE APPROACH AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE CFI NOTED THE AIRPORT OFF TO HIS RIGHT (KFMH) AND INSTRUCTED THE STUDENT IN THE RIGHT SEAT TO CONTACT THE TOWER. THE TOWER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED 'ALL RUNWAYS AVAILABLE'. THE CFI THEN TURNED A SHORT BASE TO FINAL AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 05 WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
