## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE WHEEL LANDING, AS THE PILOT WAS SETTING THE TAILWHEEL DOWN, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED RIGHT. AS A RESULT, THE LEFT WINTIP DRAGGED ON THE RUNWAY AND THE LEFT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED, FOLDING UNDER THE FUSELAGE. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO A REST, UPRIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA492](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA492), Jul 10, 2012: Maule M-4 (N12026), Springfield, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The tailwheel spring's overload failure during landing, resulting in a ground loop and runway excursion.

## Other reports on N12026 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19780327005229A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780327005229A), Mar 27, 1978: Maule M4 (N12026), Sedalia, MO, Substantial damage

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
