## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE AND HIS FRIENDS HAD DEPARTED 6 MILE LAKE AT ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE AND FLOWN TO KENAI, ALASKA FOR DINNER. AFTER DINNER THEY DEPARTED KENAI FOR BELUGA LAKE. THE WINDS WERE OUT OF THE SOUTH AND HE ENTERED A FINAL APPROACH FOR A SOUTH LANDING, HE ESTIMATED HIS HEADING AT 180. HE FELT THE WINDS WERE 160 TO 180 AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS. THE PILOT HAD 30 DEGREES OF FLAPS IN AND JUST AS HE TOUCHED DOWN A GUST OF WIND LIFTED HIS LEFT WING UP AND HIS RIGHT WING DUG INTO THE WATER. THE AIRPLANE THEN CART WHEELED. FOUR OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT THROUGH THE REAR DOOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC12FA073](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC12FA073), Jul 11, 2012: Cessna U206G (N206VR), Homer, AK, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper evaluation of the weather conditions and his subsequent downwind water landing in gusting wind conditions, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
