## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE PRACTICING OFF-AIRPORT LANDINGS ON A GRAVEL BAR, THE AIRMEN INITIATED AN ABORTED TAKEOFF BECAUSE THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT LEAVE THE GROUND AS EXPECTED. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED TOO HEAVILY CAUSING AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER ONTO ITS BACK. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, WINGS AND TAIL STRUCTURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC12CA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC12CA078), Jul 20, 2012: Bellanca 7GCBC (N53977), Talkeetna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's and student pilot's excessive application of brakes during an aborted takeoff, which resulted in a noseover.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
