## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED FUELING TANKS TO FULL FOR AIRCRAFT ON EVENING BEFORE IN WHITEHORSE, CANADA. AIRCRAFT DEPARTED WHITEHORSE IN AM, WITHOUT A VISUAL FUEL QTY STICK CHK TO NORTHWAY, AK. A/C DEPARTED NORTHWAY WITH NO FUEL ADDED, INTENDED, NORTHWAY TO GULKANA. AIRCRAFT OVERFLEW DUFFYS TAVERN STRIP, DDT, ENROUTE TO GULKANA AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER LOST POWER. PILOT REPORTED FLYING WITH FUEL SELECTOR IN BOTH. SELECTOR WAS MOVED, THE ENGINE RESTARTED MOMENTARILY AND LOST POWER. ALTITUDE WAS REPORTED AS 6500 FT. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO MAKE RETURN TO DUFFYS TAVERN STRIP, AND THEN TO ROADWAY WHEN STRIP WAS UNATTAINABLE. AK STATE TROOPERS MET DOWNED AIRCRAFT AFTER CALLOUT, AND DID A FUEL STICK CK OF TANKS ON SITE, FINDING NO FUEL. FAA ASI'S INSPECTION OF AIRCRAFT FOUND ONLY RESIDUAL FUEL AVAILABLE AT SUMPS, A COUPLE OF OUNCES PER TANK. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC12LA080](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC12LA080), Jul 31, 2012: Cessna 182B (N7150E), Gakona, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper fuel planning, which resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
