## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 4, 2012, ABOUT 1030 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A SAVAGE AIR LLC, EPIC LT AIRPLANE, N603JS, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING A HARD LANDING AT SAN SABA COUNTY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (81R), SAN SABA, TEXAS. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND THE THREE PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THE AIRPLANE WAS REGISTERED TO AND OPERATED BY SAVAGE AIR LLC; AUSTIN, TEXAS, UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91, AS A PERSONAL FLIGHT. DAY VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND AN INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM LAGO VISTA TX – RUSTY ALLEN AIRPORT (RWY), LAGO VISTA, TEXAS, ABOUT 1005, AND WAS DESTINED FOR CENTENNIAL AIRPORT (APA, DENVER, COLORADO. THE PRESSURIZED SINGLE-ENGINE TURBOPROP WAS IN A CRUISE CLIMB ABOUT 19,000 FEET MEAN SEA LEVEL (MSL) WHEN THE PILOT NOTICED A GRADUAL LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE. THE PILOT DIVERTED TO 81R AND REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE LATER SHUT DOWN AS THE FUEL PRESSURE CONTINUED TO REDUCE BELOW THE MINIMUM PRESSURE. WHEN ON A CROSSWIND LEG FOR THE ENGINE-OUT LANDING THE PILOT THEN NOTICED THAT CONSTRUCTION WAS IN PROGRESS ON THE APPROACH END OF THE CLOSED RUNWAY. AFTER OVERFLYING THE BARRIERS ON THE RUNWAY THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING THAT CAUSED A SUBSTANTIAL DISBONDING OF CARBON FIBER STRUCTURAL MEMBERS IN BOTH WINGS AND A RESULTING IMMEDIATE FUEL SPILL.
