As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT RETURNING FROM AN AUTHORIZED SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT, LANDED ON RUNWAY 21 (3999FEET LONG) WHILE IN THE LANDING ROLL, THE STUDENT IN A CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRPLANE LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, WENT OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO AN OPEN GRASS AREA F0R A DISTANCE OF 270 PLUS FEET, UNTIL THE RIGHT WING TIP STRUCK A TREE, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO STOP AND PIVOT (TAIL) TO THE LEFT. NO VISBLE SIGNS OF BRAKING TO THE POINT OF LEAVING MARKS ON THE RUNWAY OR THE GRASS SURFACE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA12CA499](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA12CA499), Aug 7, 2012: Aeronca 7CCM (N83129), Norridgewock, ME, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll, which resulted in a runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
