## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A VFR FLIGHT FROM AKRON, N.Y. (9G3) TO GROTON, CT (KGON) THE PILOT STATED HIS ENGINE STOPPED SUDDENLY RESULTING IN A FORCED LANDING ON A TIDAL MARSH AT WATERFORD BEACH PARK, ABOUT THREE MILES WEST OF GROTON. THE PILOT WASN'T INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT WASN'T DAMAGED. OUR INSPECTION AT THE LANDING SITE REVEALED THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE PILOT CLAIMS THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK AFTER THE TANK IS BELOW HALF OR IF A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF ETHENOL IS IN THE FUEL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
