## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TAKEOFF, AIRCRAFT LOST POWER. PILOT WAS ABLE TO SUSTAIN IT ENOUGH TO ATTEMPT A LANDING ON THE HIGHWAY. HE WAS UNABLE TO LAND STRAIGHT AND WHEN THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN IT WENT OFF THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. AIRCRAFT CAME TO AN ABRUBT STOP. AFTER THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY EGRESS THE AIRCRAFT, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE CONSUMED THE ENTIRE FORWARD FUSELAGE, INCLUDING THE ENGINE AND PROP, AS WELL AS A PORTION OF THE AFT FUSELAGE AND BOTH WINGS. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12LA356](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12LA356), Aug 14, 2012: Rockwell S2R (N8468V), Royal City, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to the separation of the No. 2 cylinder exhaust rocker boss housing, which prevented the exhaust valve from opening.
