## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS CONDUCTING OFF-AIRPORT LANDINGS AND STATED THAT INITIAL PART OF THE LANDING SURFACE WAS DRY AND BRAKING ACTION WAS GOOD, BUT TOWARDS THE END IT WAS SLIPPERY. SURFACE WAS MOSS, AND WEATHER INCLUDED RAIN AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. ACCORDING TO THE PIC, THE AIRCRAFT WAS MOVING ABOUT 5MPH WHEN IT FAILED TO STOP BEFORE THE END AND THEN PROCEEDED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. THE PIC SAID THAT THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED PRIOR TO GOING OFF THE EDGE OF THE UNIMPROVED SURFACE. THE WINGTIPS AND PROPELLER WERE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC12CA091](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC12CA091), Aug 18, 2012: Piper PA-18A 150 (N7863D), Talkeetna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to land on a short, wet, off-airport landing site, which resulted in a runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
