## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 17, 2012 AT 1:00 P.M. THE PILOT WAS SURVEYING CORN CROPS 13 MILES SOUTH OF TRIBUNE, KANSAS. WHILE MANUEVERING AT LOW LEVEL IN WINDS OF 170 DEGREES AT 13 KNOTS AND GUSTING TO 18 KNOTS, THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND REGAINED A LEVEL ATTITUDE IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO DESCENDING INTO THE CROPS AND IMPACTING THE GROUND ON THE LANDING GEAR IN A NEAR LEVEL ATTITUDE . THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE PILOT, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL BY EMS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA552](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA552), Aug 17, 2012: Cessna A150L (N6006J), Tribune, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from a corn crop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
