## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS PERFORMING A SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF, ROTATED, WAS AIRBORNE FOR A SHORT TIME (2 TO 3 SECONDS), AND THEN THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED BACK ONTO THE SOD, TOUCHING THE RIGHT MAIN FIRST. IT VEERED RIGHT, AND STRUCK A TREE TRUNK, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. PILOT UNABLE TO REDUCE POWER TO REJECT TAKEOFF DUE TO UNFAMILIARITY WITH OPERATION OF VERNIER THROTTLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA642](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA642), Aug 19, 2012: Aeropro CZ A240 (N812S), Greenfield, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to attain a proper takeoff speed or pitch attitude during takeoff, which resulted in the airplane settling on the runway and impacting trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
