## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING ATTEMPTED LANDING ON DELAND (KDED) RUNWAY 23, AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED LOSS OF CONTROL ON TOUCHDOWN, RESULTING IN PORPOISING, NOSEWHEEL & PROPELLER STRIKE, AND SEPARATION OF NOSEWHEEL FROM AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED IN GRASS ALONGSIDE LEFT (SOUTH) SIDE OF RUNWAY. VERTICAL STABILIZER BENT AT TOP DUE TO IMPACT FORCES AS IT INVERTED; LEFT WING SPAR DAMAGE SUSPECTED DUE TO POST-IMPACT WING DISTORTION AND MISALIGNMENT WITH AIRFRAME.PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES; AIRCRAFT INCURRED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.PILOT STATED SHE OBSERVED RAPIDLY DETERIORATING WEATHER IN VICINITY OF THE AIRPORT (KDED) AND ELECTED TO LAND. PILOT STATED SHE FELT TURBULENCE ON DOWNWIND; INTENSITY INCREASED AS APPROACH PROGRESSED. PILOT STATED WORST TURBULENCE WAS JUST PAST THE TREE LINE ON SHORT FINAL. PILOT STATED SHE WAS USING PARTIAL FLAPS, APPROX 15-20 DEG. PILOT STATED SHE DID NOT CONSIDER DIVERTING TO ANOTHER AIRPORT, DUE TO ENGINE HAVING JUST BEEN OVERHAULED.PILOT STATED THE APPROACH BECAME UNSTABLE IN-CLOSE, AND SHE ELECTED TO GO AROUND. PILOT RECOLLECTION SKETCHY THEREAFTER. AIRCRAFT MADE GROUND CONTACT AT LOW POWER SETTING AND HIGH ANGLE OF IMPACT ONTO NOSE WHEEL AND PROPELLER. NOSEWHEEL SEPARATED, AIRCRAFT SLID OFF LEFT SHOULDER AND FLIPPED AS NOSE STRUT DUG INTO EARTH.THE KDED 1855Z AWOS REPORT INDICATED WINDS FROM 310 DEG (T) AT 25 KT, GUSTING TO 34 KT. FOR RUNWAY 23, THIS WOULD MEAN A RIGHT CROSSWIND OF AT LEAST 23 KT, GUSTING AS HIGH AS 33 KT. MOREOVER, RADAR IMAGERY FROM THE 1909Z NWS RADAR AT MELBOURNE INDICATED STRONG CELLS JUST WEST AND NORTHWEST OF THE AIRPORT.
