## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT RECEIVED CLEARANCE FOR TAKEOFF WHILE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. HE THEN ADVANCED THE THROTTLES TO ENTER THE RUNWAY AT WHICH TIME HE ALSO PICKED UP HIS FLASHLIGHT FROM THE UNOCCUPUED CO-PILOTS SEAT. HE DROPPED THE FLASHLIGHT WHICH ALSO KNOCKED HIS IPAD OFF HIS LEG, BOTH WENT ONTO THE FLOOR. HIS HEAD WENT DOWN FOR WHAT HE DISCRIBED AS A FEW SECONDS, AND WHEN HE LOOKED BACK UP, HE WAS EXITING THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. HE BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT TO AN ABRUPT HALT, BUT THE NOSE GEAR HAD ALREADY LEFT THE HARD SURFACE AND SUNK INTO THE SOFT SOIL, RESULTING IN BOTH PROPS STRIKING THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
