THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED PICKNEYVILLE-DUQUOIN AIRPORT (PJY), ILLINOIS AT APPROXIMATELY 16:00 CDT FOR BLAKESBURG, IOWA ANTIQUE AIRFIELD. ACCCORDING TO STEVEN WRIGHT, AROUND 17:45 CDT HE NOTICED AN UNIDENTIFIED AIRPLANE NEAR HIS PROPERTY AT A LOW ALTITUDE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER HE HEARD A CRUNCHING SOUND. HE STATED HE DID NOT SEE ANY SMOKE, SO HE DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. MR. WRIGHT LIVES APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE EAST OF THE SITE OF THE CRASH. A 75 HOUR PRIVATE PILOT WITNESS LOCATED 6.5 MILES SOUTH OF THE ACCIDENT SITE STATED HE SAW A TWIN ENGINE AIRCRAFT FLY OVER AT 2000 FEET AND HE WAS ABLE TO SEE THE LEFT ENGINE PROPELLER BLADES STOPPED. THIS WITNESS STATED HE COULD ONLY HEAR ONE ENGINE OPERATING. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED AN APPROXIMATELY 70 FOOT TREE BEFORE IMPACTING A FIELD 93 FEET AWAY. THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS CRUSHED TO THE COCKPIT.
