## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING AN AIRSHOW AT THE DAVENPORT, IOWA AIRPORT (DVN). THE INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING A CROSSOVER MANEUVER WHERE THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT WENT FROM THE LEFT REAR SIDE OF A TRIANGLE FORMATION TO THE RIGHT SIDE. THERE WAS NO COLLISION BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE MANEUVER. STILL PICTURES AND VIDEOS SHOW THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT IN APPROXIMATELY A 110 DEGREE BANK AND A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CROSSOVER. THIS PITCH AND BANK ATTITUDE WAS MAINTAINED ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE IN THE NUMEROUS VIDEOS THAT THE PILOT MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO RIGHT THE AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO IMPACT WITH THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA602](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA602), Sep 1, 2012: Aero Vodochody L39C (N139GS), Davenport, IA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The loss of airplane control for reasons that could not be determined because postaccident examination did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded operation.

## Other reports on N139GS (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20040724020129I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20040724020129I), Jul 24, 2004: Aerovd L39C (N139GS), Rockford, IL, Minor damage. (-23) PIC, Mr. Glenn a. smith, was distracted during the approach to landing and failed to extend the landing gear while landing at rfd.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
