## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS LANDING AT THE SULLIVAN LAKE AIRPORT. A WITNESS REPORTED THAT HIS APPROACH WAS HIGHER AND LONGER THAN NORMAL. HE TOUCHED DOWN LONG AND, ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, ENCOUNTERED A WIND SHEAR THAT CAUSED HIM TO RUN OFF THE NORTH END OF THE RUNWAY ACROSS A ROAD AND FLIPPED OVER ON TO ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12CA389](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12CA389), Sep 2, 2012: Cessna 182L (N42014), Metaline Falls, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate compensation for a sudden wind shift during the landing roll, which resulted in a runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
