ON TAKE OFF, AIRCRAFT HAD DIFFICULTY GAINING ALTITUDE, PILOT MADE A STEEP RIGHT HAND TURN TO AVOID HITTING TREES AND STALLED THE AIRCRAFT RESULTING IN A CRASH LANDING INTO WILLOW LAKE. PILOT SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES REQUIRING A 4 DAY STAY IN THE HOSPITAL. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE IS SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC12LA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC12LA096), Sep 3, 2012: Taylorcraft F21 (N2005E), Willow, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane after a loss of engine power during takeoff due to carburetor ice.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
