WHILE LANDING RWY 33 WHICH IS HARD SURFACED, 50 FEET WIDE AND 2350 FEET IN LENGTH. THE AIRPLANE DRIFTED TO THE RIGHT AND TOUCHED DOWN WITH RIGHT MAIN WHEEL OFF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED ONCE AND CONTINUED TO THE RIGHT BEFORE TOUCHING DOWN A SECOND TIME. THE AIRPLANE TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET ON THE GROUND CONTINUING TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT. THE RIGHT WING THEN IMPACTED A TREE CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO TURN APPROXIMATELY 180 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND TRAVEL APPROXIMATELY FIFTY FEET BEFORE THE LEFT WING CONTACTED A SECOND TREE AND THE PROPELLER STRUCK SEVERAL TREE BRANCHES. HE AIRCRAFT THEN CAME TO A STOP.BOTH WINGS, THE MAIN CABIN STRUCTURE, BOTH AILERONS, THE PROPELLER, THE NOSE WHEEL STRUT, AND NOSE COWLINGS WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12CA390](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12CA390), Sep 3, 2012: Maule MXT-7-180A (N353LS), Manzanita, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate compensation for the crosswind during landing, which resulted in a loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
