## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS DROPPING STREAMERS WHILE FLYING AT APROXIMATELY 800 FEET AGL OVER A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE GATHERED FOR A POLITICAL FUND RAISING DINNER. WITNESSES REPORTED THAT THE PILOT APPEARED TO BE FLYING TOO SLOW AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE DURING A STEEP TURN, RESULTING IN A STALL/SPIN.AIRCRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY IMPACTED THE GROUND AND WAS DESTROYED BY A POST ACCIDENT FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR12LA410](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR12LA410), Sep 9, 2012: Schoepflin DA-4-550 (N550YS), Viola, ID, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airplane control while maneuvering, resulting in an aerodynamic stall/spin with insufficient altitude to recover.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
